Mark Barrett started working in the engineering geology field in 1989 after graduating from the University of California at Santa Barbara. He has worked for several geotechnical firms in the Ventura County and Los Angeles County areas gaining a strong background in engineering geology. Mark had operated a private engineering geology consulting firm prior to joining GeoConcepts, Inc. in 2008.

He has extensive experience in projects ranging from single-family residential to large tract developments. Types of projects include single-family homes, large tract grading, commercial developments, school sites, earthquake fault studies, landslide investigations, distressed properties, forensic investigations, land subsidence, earth embankment dams, water tank sites, septic systems, and construction observations.

He also has extensive experience in down-hole logging of borings during subsurface investigations, pile foundation construction, and soldier pile construction. He has concentrated experience performing landslide and earthquake fault investigations. He has a strong working knowledge of the complex geology of the Southern California area and has a track record of gaining regulatory approval for projects throughout Southern California. He especially enjoys working in the beautiful, but challenging Malibu area.
